Maintain & Improve AmenitiesTo monitor matters affecting the amenities of Copthorne and to use the Association’s best endeavours to maintain or improve such amenities and, where deemed appropriate by the Committee, to represent the views of Members to any Parish or Town Council, District Council, County Council, Local Planning Authority, Government Department, Development Agency, or Developer involved.

Forum for DiscussionTo provide a forum where Members can discuss matters of general interest and concern which affect Copthorne, make decisions and act on them where deemed appropriate.

Gatwick ExpansionTo monitor issues relating to both the current operation and possible future expansion of Gatwick Airport and, where deemed appropriate by the Committee, to represent the views of Members to the airfield Owner, pressure Groups, any Parish or Town Council, District Council, County Council, Local Planning Authority, or Government Department involved.

Inform MembersTo inform members about matters affecting Copthorne which come to the notice of the Association by means of periodic newsletters, emails, social media, village noticeboards, or any other practical means and to promote two-way communication with Members. Where members of the Committee deem it appropriate, to facilitate and/or help with any social or similar activity or benefit to the village.

Legal AdviceWhere deemed appropriate by the Committee, to obtain legal advice in respect of any decision (or intended decision) of a public body, on any matter to which the objects of the Association relate where it is believed that decision has been (or will be) made unlawfully, and to proceed with legal action where a majority of Members at a General Meeting or Annual General Meeting approve such action.

Fund Raising & EventsTo host and support various village events and fund raising activities to provide the community with both opportunity for social interaction and the ability to improve facilities within the village and maintain a good community spirit.

Highways, Footpaths & TransportTo monitor matters affecting highways, footpaths and transport infrastructure in Copthorne and the surrounding area and where deemed appropriate by the Committee to represent the views of Members to any Parish or Town Council, District Council, County Council, Local Planning Authority, Government Department, Development Agency or Developer involved.
